On The Road FAQ

You will need to decide if you want to purchase from the babies listed on the site or the “Pick from Three” (PFT).  Most of our customers pick from babies listed on the site.  We suggest putting your deposit on your favorite. When you come you are welcome to meet and handle any other available babies. If you like another one better, you can choose that one. Reserving your favorite assures that you can have first opportunity to purchase that hedgie.
Our PFT babies are discounted because they are the hardest to place in new homes.  They might be a tad older than other babies, albino, more shy, or going through the quailing process and not as social.  Babies listed online might move to the PFT option but that is only if they are having trouble being placed through our regular program.   We don’t want you to think the PFT babies won’t make good pets but they will take more work, which is why they are discounted.

If you are interested in supplies, cage kits, food, check out our Products and contact us before we leave so we will know what items to bring.
One thing you’ll want to do is to check out the dimensions on our Cages link.  We find it helpful to take some masking tape and mark out on the floor the size of the cages so you are prepared.  Sometimes people are surprised how large the cages are in real life 😉

YES, the deposit is necessary for our planning purposes.  Sometimes these events get very full and we need to know exactly how many people will be there and how many hedgehogs to bring on that day.  By making a deposit we will have all your contact information in case there is a problem on our end and we need to contact you.

Absolutely.  We encourage you to reserve your favorite hedgehog.

We will be bringing a couple extra hedgehogs with us.  Customers will be given their hedgehogs in order in which deposits are received, if multiple people arrive at once (which is likely).  Customers will then have an opportunity to handle other hedgehogs and make a trade.  No one will be offended if your first hedgie choice will be offended if you make a trade 😉

We will be bringing the babies from the site that have a deposit plus a few extra in case someone wants to make a change.  Unfortunately, I don’t have room during travel to bring all the babies ;(  We will leave some of the listed babies at the farm so that others can still have a choice of our available babies.

• *Each cage package the whole packaged is discounted from regular price.  In addition, when you purchase a cage package
• *$10 off the price of the hedgehog when you purchase a cage package
• *$5 discount when you pay in cash (your $25 deposit does count as cash).

When we have accommodations that allow us to spend time with you we usually do a 30-60 minute presentation regarding longevity and handling.  We allow time for handling your new hedgehog, making any changes, and selecting supplies.

Traveling with a large number of animals is difficult.  It is best to inquire if the Pick From Three option is available at the event you wish to attend.

If you are considering purchasing a hedgehog but have never seen a particular animal in person the shows or our On the Road Events are a great place to meet us and check out our animals. We like to educate people about our animals and we certainly want every serious customer to have their questions are answered. We want you to learn enough about the animal in order to make an educated decision about your purchase. However, the animals are in a new environment and in a strange setting so we want to minimize the stress for the animal before they go to their new home.

The biggest advantage to picking up animals when we are on the road is convenience in location and show dates as well as the opportunity to see the show itself and/or many new owners experiencing their hedgehog introduction.

The time of transitioning a baby from our home to its new home is always a very stressful time for the baby hedgehog. When the babies are picked up at a show, new sights, sounds, and smells surround them, which can be very frightening for them.
